The Challenge
Bega, a leading Australian dairy and food manufacturer, needed a fully functional skim milk powder rehydration plant—fast. With commercial supply commitments locked in across Far North Queensland, the facility had to be designed, built, and commissioned within a strict four-month window.
Initially engaged for the electrical design, we were awarded the full project scope just 12 days later—including electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation design and installation. From that point, every day counted.
Upon reviewing the initial brief, it became clear that the original estimate of 300 m of piping was significantly underestimated. The actual requirement was closer to 900 m. Despite this scope increase and the tight deadline, the plant still needed to be delivered on time, fully automated, and seamlessly integrated into Bega’s existing SCADA system.
The Solution
We mobilised our team to site within two weeks. After conducting a full walkthrough of the factory, we identified critical cut-in points and developed a detailed mechanical layout optimised for hygienic operation and flow efficiency.
Our team handled the complete electrical and instrumentation design, delivering a fully automated system that met Bega’s operational and integration needs. We adapted quickly to scope changes, scaling up the piping design and installation without impacting the overall timeline.
Throughout the four-month build, we managed all procurement, site works, electrical fit-out, SCADA integration, and commissioning.
- Full project delivered in just 4 months
- Piping expanded from 300 m to 900 m without timeline delay
- 8,280 LTI-free hours, demonstrating a strong safety culture
- Seamless integration into Bega’s SCADA system
- Commissioned on time to meet critical delivery contracts
The Results
Bega was highly impressed with our responsiveness, engineering quality, and ability to adapt to scope changes without sacrificing schedule or performance. The project significantly enhanced Bega’s production capacity and operational efficiency.
This project highlights our proven expertise in delivering complete processing plant solutions—from concept to commissioning. With deep capability in sanitary pipe purge welding, automated process design, and integrated control systems, we specialise in building high-performance, hygienic systems tailored to the food and beverage sector.
